When it comes to electric scooters, the Dualtron Thunder 2 is a monster among monsters. This is one of the most powerful scooters ever created. With its two extremely powerful electric motors, it provides an incredible total output of 10080 W. Such excellent performance necessitates a long range and this is where the Thunder excels again, offering a stunning range of up to 170 km! The constant fear of not having enough speed, acceleration or range is now a thing of the past. Like its predecessor (Dualtron Thunder), the Thunder 2 features an anti-lock braking system (ABS), thanks to which it provides maximum safety, performance and reliability! Now you can go on a trip to the countryside or commute to work without having to worry. This is simply Dualtron Thunder 2 and its name speaks for itself among electromobility enthusiasts!

Body, design and equipment

The scooter offers practical design and perfect build quality you will appreciate during your daily rides. Like its predecessor, both the frame and handlebars are made of 6082-T6 – a specially wrought aluminum similar to the one used in aircraft, to ensure maximum durability and safety. The wheel shafts are made of SCM440, a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel with carbon admixture. Quality materials and precise workmanship give this scooter the rigidity necessary to ensure rider’s safety. The maintenance-free and durable elastomeric suspension, 11-inch, air-filled tubeless tires and comfortable ergonomic grips all contribute to your riding comfort. The Thunder 2 has individual cells in the battery to increase their durability and a heat sink at the bottom preventing overheating and any damage to the control unit. The Dualtron Thunder 2 can be folded and carried thanks to the 3rd generation folding system. You can also fold the handlebars, which makes the scooter even more compact and allows loading it into a trunk of a standard car without problems. The Dualtron Thunder is equipped with a large and easy-to-read EY4 display manufactured in-house by Minimotors. The display shows all important data, such as speed, current gear, daily kilometers travelled (TRIP), total kilometers travelled (ODO) and the current battery level. Thanks to its high brightness level, the display stays legible even in adverse weather conditions. The throttle is controlled by a popular finger lever and also includes cruise control. You can connect the display to a fingerprint reader, so that only you can unlock your scooter. Unlike the Thunder model, the Thunder 2 has a new rear spoiler fitted with a light, a rubber step-on deck and the new side lighting.

Safety and ride quality

The Thunder 2 has been designed to provide customers with top quality and technology without compromises. There are many new features. One of them is the improved strength and durability of the frame for safe riding even at high speeds. The revolutionary elastomeric suspension at the front and rear will make sure your ride is comfortable! This is a proven suspension system used in almost every model of the Dualtron series. If the suspension seems too stiff or too soft to you, its stiffness can be easily adjusted in three steps or you can simply choose from other five cartridges offering various elastomer stiffness. This suspension type requires zero maintenance and excels in high reliability. The Dualtron Thunder 2 is supplied with dual hydraulic brakes giving you incredible braking power and reliability when braking. The braking performance is further enhanced by an innovative double-acting caliper. Combined with the electronic brake, you can be sure that you will always brake to a stop safely even at higher speeds. You will certainly appreciate the recuperative charging option, which returns a portion of the energy back to your battery. Another important safety element is the electronic ABS that prevents wheel locking when braking heavily. It goes without saying that safety requires proper lighting. The dual LED front light, rear lights and brake lights provide you with better visibility and safety you need in an urban environment, particularly during reduced visibility. The scooter also offers the option to activate the so-called “Kick-start” feature preventing any unwanted start up and you can even reduce the scooter’s brutal power by switching off the front motor or by selecting a lower gear on the display. The easy-to-maintain rubber deck surface prevents riders from slipping in an extreme situation and comes as a bonus. Unfortunately, unlike its predecessor, it does not have a certified waterproof rating.

Power and range

Every adrenaline enthusiast will surely appreciate the scooter’s power and range that are truly extreme! You can be sure that the two MAX BLDC motors providing 10 080 W power will allow you to climb any slope without you feeling any speed reduction. Add to them the extremely durable and huge LG 21700 72V 40Ah battery giving you an amazing range of up to 170 km, making you predestined for long and trouble-free rides even in the most demanding environment! A range like that provides you with freedom to ride without having to worry about where to recharge your battery. The scooter has two charging ports, one of which supports fast charging. All ports are equipped with protective caps preventing dirt from entering inside. To prolong battery life, the set of battery cells was better attached using separate battery cell holders to eliminate the risk of simultaneous damage to multiple cells. Also, the Thunder 2 stores the battery in a powder-coated steel case that protects it better from external damage. The battery does not suffer from any undesirable memory effect, which is why it will last many years, subject to proper charging and maintenance! Combined with two control units made in-house by Minimotors, the scooter allows riders to ride at speeds of up to 100 km/h (depending on the rider’s weight, outside temperature and terrain).

Use and practicality

Given its solid structure and brutal performance, this is a very versatile scooter. Thanks to its 2×2 drive, the Dualtron Thunder 2 will handle terrain and even a very steep climb. You do not have to worry about your scooter giving up on you on a longer trip. With its 11-inch tubeless tires, the Thunder provides you with excellent comfort, traction and safety on the road. The tubeless wheels significantly reduce the risk of getting a flat tire and allow easy repair in the event of tire damage. The tires are easily replaceable thanks to the modular structure of the wheels. You will love the very comfortable chassis, which you will be able to use both on cobblestones and on field roads. Despite this scooter’s versatility, its weight of about 47 kg may be a limiting factor for some riders as it is not easy to carry this scooter or load it into a car trunk, which is why you might need to call a friend. Likewise, the scooter’s performance and robust design resulted in poorer compactness, meaning you will have difficulty taking it with you inside a restaurant and will have to lock it outside like a bicycle. With its size it still fits inside the trunk of a normal car, however do not expect much space left in it. Nevertheless, this is one of the best and most popular scooters ever created.

As was the case previously, the idea behind this scooter was to take all the good features found in previous models and improve them using latest technology without any compromises. The Thunder 2 has certainly fulfilled that mission. Its brutal power is predestined for true enthusiasts used to ride the most powerful machines. We definitely recommend it to experienced riders who have ridden many kilometers on scooters. The scooter meets the paper specs declared by the manufacturer, having a practical and beautiful design while being very safe to ride. You can count on it in all situations. You will not get bored by it, not even after many years of use. Riding it will always be an incredible experience. However, what we view negatively is the fact that it does not have a certified waterproof rating, unlike its predecessor.
